IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)
At Jaded Body Wellness and Spine Institute, we specialize in many manual therapy interventions. One method is Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) to efficiently locate and treat individuals with musculoskeletal and soft tissue dysfunction. With IASTM, the Doctor of Physical Therapy will use specialized instruments to help detect and treat fascial restrictions, encourage rapid localization, and facilitate healing. At JADED, we are fortunate to have clinicians certified as Graston Technique Therapy Specialists (GTS). The Graston Technique (GT) is an evidence-based method of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that utilizes six specifically designed stainless steel instruments to aid the clinician in the detection and treatment of soft tissue dysfunction. The Graston Technique can be used to perform static soft tissue mobilization or combined with rehabilitative exercise to improve musculoskeletal function. The Graston Technique aids your recovery process by stimulating connective tissue to form collagen growth, improve fiber alignment, restore motion, and improve proprioception to achieve better/faster outcomes. IASTM and the Graston Technique are beneficial for many conditions including:
- Tendinopathies such as tennis elbow and Achilles tendonitis.
- Myofascial pain syndromes such as plantar fasciitis or shin splints
- Muscular restriction and pain
- RTC tears and tendonitis
- Knee and Patellar tendinopathies
- Ligament pain and joint sprains
- Post-surgical management and scar mobilization
- Edema management
- Many other musculoskeletal dysfunctions
