Manual Therapy is one of the most beneficial techniques used in physical therapy treatments today. All of JADED’s Doctors specialize in using manual therapy as a primary source of pain relief and recovery with our patients. JADED is an Orthopaedic and Manual Therapy based clinic focusing on a personalized hands-on approach to your treatment.
What is Manual Therapy?
Manual Therapy (MT) is defined as a skilled application of an accurately determined and specifically directed manual force to the body, in order to improve tissue extensibility and mobility in areas that are restricted: in joints, in connective tissue, or in skeletal muscle.
Manual Therapy is a physically hands-on, one-on-one healing treatment used by a physical therapist to treat musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction, improve range of motion, correct alignment, increase joint and myofascial mobility and restore balance and function in the body. It mostly includes myofascial manipulation, joint mobilization, and joint and spinal manipulation.
These skilled hand movements are intended to produce any or all of the following effects:
- Improve tissue extensibility
- Increase the range of motion of the joint complex
- Mobilize or manipulate soft tissues and joints
- Induce relaxation and blood flow
- Change muscle function
- Modulate pain
- Reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation or movement restriction
Manual therapy is a gateway to pain-free exercise and aids in achieving an active lifestyle.
How much manual therapy is recommended?
Our approach to manual therapy sets the stage to a fast healing response that allows you to get back to your life quickly.
Typically, the more chronic a problem is, the more time we will need to see significant changes in your condition. The more acute the problem, the quicker we see changes.
It is common to have some soreness after treatments. This usually subsides within 24-48 hours after treatment, followed by substantial relief of symptoms.
