MEET OUR DOCTORS

Dr. Jade W. Ekle PT, DPT, OCS, MTC, CSCS, CBDN

Doctor of Physical Therapy,
Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist,
Manual Therapy Certified Specialist,
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist,
Certified Biomedical Dry Needling Specialist

A local to Alaska, Dr. Jade Ekle attended the University of Tampa, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health and Exercise Science and a Minor in Psychology. After graduating cum laude, he attended the University of Saint Augustine for Health Sciences due to its superior reputation in manual therapy, orthopaedics, and body manipulation. He graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and high honors. Immediately following, Dr. Ekle became the clinic director and partner of the world famous Aspen Back & Body Institute in Aspen, Colorado. Aspen Back & Body was the front runner in non-surgical rehab for back problems, combining therapies from Physical Therapy, Gyrotonic, Chiropractic, Pilates, Specialized Training, and Vibration Therapy to provide the ultimate physical therapy service. Clients visited from 45 countries including world leaders, pro athletes, celebrities, and Forbes Fortune 400 families. Simultaneously, he pursued an aggressive education path by certifying specialties in Manual Therapy, Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, Strength and Conditioning, and Biomedical Dry Needling. Jade then ventured around the country as a traveling physical therapist, absorbing a tremendous amount of clinical knowledge and expertise before making his final stop back home to Alaska.

Dr. Ekle has enjoyed his life competing in baseball, wrestling, mixed martial arts, backcountry snowboarding, and he is now the Head Coach of the oldest wrestling club in the valley, the (Mid-Valley Wolves). His inspiration for JADED began as a young boy. Dr. Ekle was raised by his mother, who has battled most of her life through long-term disability and narcotic pain medication. She was diagnosed early on with Multiple Sclerosis and chronic neck pain and underwent multiple cervical fusion surgeries. Dr. Ekle also has plenty of personal experience with injury. Before the age of 30, Jade has had the misadventure of 4 broken ankles, a dislocated hip, a fractured low back, a torn ACL and MCL in his knee, a broken wrist, multiple shoulder dislocations, a torn rotator cuff, biceps and glenoid labrum, and enough concussions to thankfully slow him down and protect himself a bit more. Jade’s father passed away when he was 3 years old and he was raised without health insurance, and after spending most of his childhood with the emergency room as his only access to medical services, has now come to understand the blessing of excellent one-on one, hands on medical care and the privilege of capitalizing on health insurance benefits. Dr. Ekle has utilized these experiences to enhance his philosophies of treatment and his mission at JADED.

There is no question of Dr. Ekle's motivation, inspiration and vision of bringing his elite medical expertise home to real local Alaskan people, offering high-quality orthopedic sports medicine services, with a touch of prestige inspired by his experiences derived in Aspen. Dr. Ekle continues to pursue his passion for healing as a Wellness Fitness Coordinator for the Anchorage Fire Department, Central Mat-Su Fire Department, Pioneer Peak International Hotshot Crew, Gannett Glacier Fire Crew, and many of the Alaska Smokejumpers and Forestry Division. Dr. Jade Ekle is recognized not just as a multifaceted and specialized Doctor of Physical Therapy, but as a Board Certified Orthopaedic Specialist, a coach, a community service volunteer, a father of 3 children, a husband, and as a true healer.

Dr. Nathan Kowalczk PT, DPT

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Nathan Kowalczk is a born and raised Alaskan, growing up right here in Wasilla. As a young athlete, Nathan was introduced to physical therapy after sustaining his own injuries, building the inspiration and foundation for his career. After graduating from UAA with his BS in Health and Fitness Leadership, he took the somewhat non-traditional route of physical therapy training. Instead of a traditional physical therapy school, Nathan decided to continue from his internship and train to become an adaptive ski instructor for the Aspen Skiing Company to share his joy of skiing with those with special needs. These experiences further embedded his passion to help others enjoy the activities they love.

While attending the University of Vermont, Dr. Kowalczk adopted the philosophy that a physical therapist’s most important tools are their mind, eyes, and hands. This philosophy led to a strong interest in manual therapy. Nathan expanded his knowledge and joint manipulation skills by pursuing an advanced manipulation course with the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand. In addition, Nathan is trained in an emerging soft tissue technique termed the “Fascial Distortion Model.” Nathan plans to continue pursuing his interest in manual therapy by seeking speciality certifications in the Graston Technique and dry needling.

Outside of the clinic, Nathan likes to enjoy all Alaska has to offer. He remains active with hiking, biking, or joining local adult sports leagues, but that doesn’t mean you won’t see him with a rod in his hand or skis on his feet. Whether it’s on the field, water, or slopes, don’t hesitate to say hi!
